**URGENT PRESS RELEASE**

Zitat von: GRAIWalk for Greyhounds postponed due to G8 Summit

Posted in Press Release, Walk for Greyhounds

Greyhound Rescue Association Ireland regrets to inform our supporters that due to increased security in Dublin City Centre relating to the G8 Summit, the Gardaí have advised us that Walk for Greyhounds is unable to go ahead as planned on 16 June. The Gardai are advising that all events are cancelled on this date.

Everyone at GRAI are extremely disappointed to hear this news and we are in discussions with Dublin City Council to set a new date for the Walk. It is likely that the event will now be rescheduled for Sunday 22nd September, 2013 in Merrion Square. This date will be confirmed shortly. Updated information regarding the rescheduling of the event will soon be available on our website at grai.ie and on our facebook page at facebook.com/grai.ie.

Greyhound Rescue Association Ireland wishes to thank all of our volunteers and supporters for their continued work in spreading the word that Greyhounds make great pets and we hope to see you all at the rescheduled event in September!

Sooooooooooooo

Das war also heute - schauen wir mal was so berichtet wird.. :-)

Zitat von: Greyhound Rescue Association Ireland, 21.9.13vor 2 Stunden

It truly was a "greyhound's life" today in Dublin as hundreds of dog lovers, rescue
organizations and pets from all over Ireland and beyond joined Greyhound Rescue
Association (GRAI) in our third annual Walk for Greyhounds held today in Merrion
Square. Today's walk was also supported by numerous Irish celebrities such as Sharon
Shannon, Cathy Davey, and Neil Hannon. Film director Lenny Abrahamson was in
attendance and led the walk, showing his continued support for the work of our
organization, and his compassion for Irish racing greyhounds. As Abrahamson
declared, "Greyhounds are such gentle, affectionate dogs. Anyone who saw them
walking calmly through the city today, alongside children and dogs of all breeds and
sizes will have seen that for themselves."

Here at GRAI, we feel the Walk for Greyhounds is an important testament to the fact
that greyhounds make wonderful family pets, but the Walk also calls attention to the
fact that industry standards for their care and welfare must be immediately increased.

While there is still much work to be done, we are hopeful that today's walk illustrates
the fact that attitudes in Ireland towards racing greyhounds are changing, and that
more people are realizing that greyhounds deserve a life beyond the racetrack, as
they are gentle, quiet dogs who make wonderful pets.

GRAI hopes that increasing numbers of homes will be found in Ireland for racing
Greyhounds, once their careers have ended, as these noble dogs are truly a symbol of
our National heritage and culture and deserve special protection and consideration.

We thank all those who were able to join us in Dublin for today's walk, and we extend
a warm invitation to all of our supporters to join us on next year's walk which will
likely be held in June of 2014. Please watch our Facebook page and website for more
information as the time draws nearer.

If you would like to get involved in supporting and caring for greyhounds in need, or
to adopt a hound of your own, please visit our website at www.grai.ie where you will
find a list of adoption agencies and sanctuaries. Here at GRAI, we ask you to think
about letting a greyhound race into your heart and home today!

Klingt doch schon ganz gut!
